Sherona Jackson is an emerging Ngaanyatjarra artist with deep ancestral ties to the lands surrounding Papulankutja. Born in Kalgoorlie and raised in Jameson (Mantamaru), she comes from the well-known Jackson family, with many relatives still living in the region. Her grandfather, Reggie Jackson, was a respected senior NG (Ngaanyatjarra-Giles) elder.
Sherona paints key tjukurpa (Dreaming stories) connected to her Country, including Wati Kutjarra (Two Men) and Kungkarrangkalpa (Seven Sisters). Although new to painting with Papulankutja Artists, she brings a strong creative lineage and cultural inheritance to her work. Now a new mum, Sherona moved to Blackstone in 2000 and is beginning to explore her voice as a painter, drawing on the deep well of story and tradition passed down through her family.
