Deborah Walkabout
Deborah Walkabout is a senior Pitjantjatjara artist with deep ties to Country across the Anangu Lands. Born and raised near Tjukurla, close to the Docka River, she grew up travelling widely with family and learning Tjukurpa. Over the years, she has painted with many art centres across the region, developing a strong, recognisable style.
Deborah was long based in Mutitjulu, where she painted at Walkatjara Art and became known for her vibrant depictions of the Kungkarangkalpa (Seven Sisters) story. She is a respected cultural storyteller, known for her warmth, humour, and generosity in sharing knowledge.
She now lives in Jameson (Mantamaru), following her daughter who moved there. Though her home base has changed, her connection to both desert and family remains strong, and she continues to paint with passion.
